Many people in charge of designing the layout, or refreshing the arrangement of a hotel lobby have a lot of fun with it. But there are also a lot of managers in charge who hate the thought of it for whatever reason.
This article is for the haters.
Designing a lobby in 2017 is different than what it was a couple decades ago. 20 years ago it would have been better to develop a lobby that was a bit more closed off. A lobby where people could talk with just their groups would have been preferred. That is not the case today.
Today it is better to create a more open space. Millennials are the ones starting to use hotel lobbies and they are more socially open compared to people of the past.
Having a space to purchase drinks and snacks, as well as strong and fast WIFI is important. By not having fast WIFI in 2017 you are for sure going to make a lot of people aggravated. That brings up an important tip when it comes to electronics. Be sure to add power outlets and charging stations with USB ports, as your guests will appreciate being able to stay connected.
One last important aspect of the hotel lobby is lighting. It’s best to always keep your lights on, no matter the time, and to make sure the general style is minimalism. One benefit of updating the lighting is getting energy efficient lights that require much less energy than even ten years ago. You can even buy your new lighting at hotel furniture surplus places or used furniture stores to get an even bigger discount.
By following these steps you will end up with an updated and fresh hotel lobby that people will love hanging out in.
